There are 8 spacious and romantic bedrooms, all en-suite, with names inspired by operas and operatic characters and decorated in soft colours inspired by the local 15th century painter, Piero della Francesca. The faded terracotta-walled Superior Suite room on the top floor, complete with Jacuzzi spa, is perfect for honeymooners while the Master Suite is full of spirit and space, its walls painted the yellow of sun-bleached corn with shades of summer green trompe l’oeil decoration. There is a sitting room on each floor of the hotel and these together with all the bedrooms are filled with Umbrian sunlight flooding in through the windows.

Located right on the Tuscan border, it is an ideal base from which to explore both Umbria and Tuscany with towns and cities like Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Todi, Orvieto, Cortona and Siena within easy reach as well as the city of Florence.

Città di Castello and Umbertide are within a 20 minute drive and the gorgeous medieval hilltop towns of Montone and Monte Santa Maria Tiberina are only a short distance away.

A great area for excursions on foot, with guided hiking or mountain biking also available. There is horseriding and trekking nearby. For golfers, the international championship golf course of Antognolla is only half an hour away...

The bedrooms

Master Suite - An exceptional suite on the first floor painted corn yellow and pale green. It is large and gracious with breathtaking views across the valley. The luxurious bedroom features a super king size four poster bed and there is an adjoining dressing room. In the large en-suite bathroom there is a hand carved marble bath and separate shower room.

Superior Suite 1 – Also on the first floor with the same stunning views as the Master Suite, this room is painted soft peach and dove grey. The large bedroom features a wrought iron super king sized bed with a luxurious en-suite bathroom and there is a small walk on balcony overlooking the terrace and hills beyond. There is also a working fireplace, perfect for a winter retreat!

Superior Suite 2 – On the first floor, this bedroom is painted in medieval manuscript colours of pink and lilac. There is a large bedroom, complete with sitting area by a hand carved stone fireplace between two archways which lead into the en-suite bathroom. Both rooms are lined with C16th carved walnut bookshelves, filled with historical and classic books for you to read. From the small walk on balcony in the bathroom there is a wonderful view of the hills, which can also be viewed while taking a soak in the large bathtub.

Superior Suite 3 – Centrally located on the top floor with the best views over the valley. Painted a warm, faded terracotta, the room has a canopied, super king size bed, and is perfect for guests who want a really private retreat. The bathroom has a double shower, free standing bathtub and a separate jaccuzzi.

Superior Deluxe 1 – On the second floor, this room is painted a clear crystal green and has lovely antique furniture. The room has a super king size four poster bed and the en-suite bathroom has a bath and a shower. Both the room and the bathroom have stupendous views from the front of the house.

Superior Deluxe 2 – On the second floor with beautiful views of the Umbrian hills, the room is painted a pale delicate lilac. A perfect room for a romantic getaway, with stunning views from the front of the house. The bed is a super king size four poster made of wrought iron and the en-suite bathroom has a bath and a shower.

Junior Suite 1 – On the second floor, this luxury suite is painted the colour of crushed raspberries, with a separate sitting room painted in soft raspberry and green. The room overlooks the terrace and has a side view of the hills and in the afternoon the bedroom is bathed in soft light from the setting sun. Its super king sized bed is wrought iron and it has an en-suite shower room.

Junior Suite 2 – Also on the second floor, this is a beautiful intimate room decorated in soft plum and apricot. There is a hand painted super king size bed with adjoining sitting room and views to the terrace. There is also an en-suite shower room.

Family Suite - Centrally located on the top floor, these 2 adjoining rooms, each with its own bathroom, can sleep 4 people. One of the rooms has a mansard ceiling with double bed and shower room.

2 bedroom villa - A charming 3 storey villa in the grounds of the Palazzo with its own private parterre garden and terrace with views over the hills. It has two separate bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom. On the ground floor with French doors overlooking the terrace are the kitchen, dining area and one of the bedrooms. If guests like they can also enjoy the main restaurant and bar at the hotel. On the second floor is a comfortable sitting room with a large stone fireplace and French doors on to the parterre garden, while the top floor has a beamed bedroom with king size bed and en-suite shower room. Sleeping capacity is 4 people. The swimming pool and fitness centre are just a few minutes walk away, and the Spa with treatments and massages is inside the hotel.

Restaurant and Dining

Guests can enjoy intimate lunches and dinners in the vaulted dining room at the hotel and during warmer months on the outside terrace which has stunning views across the hills and valleys.

For 'al fresco' dining there are pizza evenings where everyone can join in and make their own pizza in the traditional wood oven. Guests can relax before dinner in the luxurious bar and sit beside the log burning fire whilst enjoying a signature cocktail or a glass of Umbrian wine.

Swimming Pool

The infinity pool at the hotel has incredible views over the valley. It is a truly tranquil area and guests can laze the day away in the warmth of the Umbrian sun, relax reading a book and just drinking in the panorama.

There is also a jacuzzi, changing rooms and showers for the guests to use.
